In the 1980s, Valentina steps in a phone booth to call the home she walked away from years ago. It's her mother's birthday night and she just wants to wish her happy birthday, but her father answers instead, the same man who has never accepted her as a transgender woman. Valentina finds herself facing a conversation with him, who wants to know where she is, what she does for a living and whether her life is better away from home. Reluctant, Valentina answers that's her life, even if it's imperfect. The conversation goes on and confirms his inability to understand her, but also reveals a desire to reconnect, leaving a small opening for their relationship to heal.
